Site Safety And Health Officer (SSHO)The Korte Company is seeking an experienced Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) willing to travel up to 100% for commercial/government construction projects to maintain safety for every aspect of the project. Safety is critical to the success of our construction projects and this position will be the key person responsible for adherence to our safety standards. The ideal candidate will provide proactive, visible leadership in developing the safety culture on the project site.Essential FunctionsConduct and document daily safety and health inspectionsConduct mishap investigations and complete required reportsMaintain safety reference materials on the jobsiteAttend all preparatory and periodic in-progress meetingsEnsure subcontractor compliance with safety and health requirements and inspectionsConduct new employee safety orientationLead on-site safety meetings and toolbox talksPerform project hazard analysis and maintain hazard communication programsVerify safety training of all workersTraveling/relocation will be requiredMinimum Qualifications30 hour OSHA certification training within last 5 yearsProof of 8 hours or more of formal safety training each year for the last 5 years must be able to provide dates and hoursFirst Aid and CPR certified24 hour Competent Person for Fall Protection training that complies with EM 385-1-1 section 21 (Current within 2 years)Certificate of training on the following: ExcavationsScaffoldingFall protectionHazardous energyConfined spaceHealth Hazard recognitionPersonal Protective EquipmentStrong analytical, problem solving, organizational, multi-tasking, communication and conflict management skillsComputer knowledge in sending emails, daily reports, construction look-ahead schedules, and iPad useStrong work ethic with a passion to fulfill commitmentsRemarkable enthusiasmSincere obligation to client satisfactionThe ability to speak Spanish is a plusEducation + ExperienceCorp of Engineers EM 385-1-1 experience 5 years of experience on similar construction projects – must be able to provide dates and descriptions of previous projects including dollar amountsExperience on large ground-up; DOD/USACE; vertical projects of 15M+ preferredBCSP certification as a Safety Trained Supervisor (STS), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), and/or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) preferred.Physical DemandsRegular use of hands to finger, handle or feelReach with hands and armsStand, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawlTalk or hear with others on jobsite and via phone/computer communicationsFrequently lift and/or move up to 50 poundsWilling to work 6 days a week if job requires it.Comfortably work at heights, including on roofs, scaffolding, ladders, and elevated surfacesWork EnvironmentWet and/or humid conditionsMoving mechanical partsHigh, precarious placesRisk of electrical shockOutside weather conditions, such as extreme heat and extreme coldModerate to loud noise levelsAbout The Korte CompanyThe Korte Company was founded in 1958 on the belief that professionalism, quality and value added services are fundamental to a successful company.
