Part-Time Legal Assistant (Path to Full-Time)
Hemness Faller Elder Law | Brandon | FL | $22+/hour

About Us
Hemness Faller Elder Law is a small, close-knit law firm that helps families with elder law, estate planning, probate, guardianship Medicaid planning,  and special needs planning. We care about our clients and take pride in guiding them through important and often stressful moments in their lives. We’re looking for a dependable, detail-oriented legal assistant to join our team.

The Position
This is a part-time role (about [20–30] hours per week) with flexible scheduling. You’ll be working with our attorney and paralegals while getting cross-trained across each of our practice areas, so you’ll get broad, hands-on experience in elder law. Strong performers have the potential to move into a full-time position.

What You’ll Do

• Greet clients and answer phones with warmth and professionalism
• Schedule appointments and manage attorney calendars
• Prepare, format, and proofread legal documents and correspondence
• Assist with estate planning, probate, and elder law files from intake to close
• Organize and maintain client files, both paper and electronic
• Help with court filings and track deadlines
• Coordinate document signings and notarizations
• Handle general office administrative tasks as needed

What We’re Looking For

• Strong organization skills and attention to detail
• Clear, professional written and verbal communication
• Comfort with Microsoft Word, Outlook, AI, and general office technology
• Patience and compassion when working with older adults, special need individuals, and their families
• Ability to keep information confidential
• Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities

Preferred (Not Required)

• Prior law office or legal assistant experience, especially in estate planning, probate, or elder law
• Florida Notary Public commission (or willingness to get one)
• Familiarity with legal practice management software, specifically LEAP

• Starting at $22/hour, with the potential for higher pay contingent upon relevant experience
