\nThe Behavioral Health and Psychiatric RN ensures that all clinical care is delivered in a manner that meets or exceeds goals and expectations for clinical outcomes, quality assurance standards, and patient satisfaction. The RN gauges the behavioral health patients' psychiatric state, collaborates with a multi-disciplinary team to support each patients' care plan, monitors adherence to all treatments, administers psychotropic and other mediations, has strong de-escalation skills, maintains patient safety during restraint, hold or seclusion events, conducts education, and helps prepare the patient and family for a safe discharge and therapeutic continuum of care.\n

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions \n
\n - Provides thorough, timely and accurate documentation of all pertinent data, therapeutic interventions and patient responses including assessment, care plan, patient goals and interventions according to established standards for the care of the behavioral health care patient.
\n - Coordinate daily behavioral health plan of care.
\n - Evaluating and implementing for comfort and well-being of the patients' s medical, social, and emotional needs in the behavioral health setting.
\n - Provides patient and family education regarding behavioral, psychiatric, and medical needs from time of entry into the health care setting to disposition to next continuum of care.
\n - Safely administers medication in accordance with provider orders, protocols, and policies and monitoring effectiveness with a strong knowledge of the psychotropic drug class.
\n - Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team regarding care and disposition specific to the patient's behavioral, psychiatric, and medical needs.
\n - Delegates tasks as appropriate to Behavioral Health Technicians and other members of the behavioral, psychiatric, and medical health care teams.
\n - Maintains a safe behavioral health environment.
\n - Maintain a safe behavioral health milieu.
\n - Provide direct therapeutic interaction and participation with behavioral health patients and their families.
\n - Provides patient care based on standards of practice, procedures, and policies of the health system.
\n - Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience \n
\n - Associate Degree Nursing
\n - 6 months or greater of RN experience
\n
\n
Preferred Education and Experience \n
\n - Bachelor Degree Nursing
\n - ADN prepared nurses hired after February 24, 2017; must complete BSN within 5 years of hire
\n
\n
Required Licensure and Certification \n
\n - Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Multi-State - State Board of Nursing RN license in state of practice
\n - Basic Life Support Heartsaver (BLS HS) (Non-Clinical) - American Heart Association (AHA) or obtained within within 14 days
\n - CPR/ AED/ BLS - Other BLS
\n

Preferred Licensure and Certification \n
\n - Upon hire/transfer into role, must become certified in behavior management techniques
\n
\n
Knowledge Requirements \n
\n - Knowledge and understanding of physician desk reference guide
\n - Computer literate and proficient in various computer programs
\n - Knowledge of accreditation standards
\n
\n
